Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Andy David. I'm a poet who exists in the image of love. I've been writing poetry since I was a young boy. I enjoy writing about love and romance.

Which country do you live in now? What’s your profession? be general, no need to specify your location...

I live in the US & am employed as a manager.

We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community?

Poets rally offers opportunities to share, and I enjoy sharing & reading the different styles of poetry and prose. I also enjoy interacting with & getting to know a little bit about the poets from different parts of the world.

How long have you been blogging? Do you think being part of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I posted my first poem on 28 January 2011, so my 1 year anniversary is fast approaching.

Yes, being part of a poetry community contributes to my creative writing. It challenges me to think and write outside my normal box & it's a great way to encourage fellow poets.

Why poetry? Do you write fiction too?

I've always written poetry. I love the rhythm & flow of words. I have written a few fiction pieces for other communities, but my forte is poetry.

Please share 3 to 5 blog links you enjoy reading most, give 1 or 2 sentences to tell why you love their creative process.

There are so many good blogs I come across, it's hard to choose. I tend to veer towards those blogs whose subjects are about love & romance.

My favorites would have to be:

1. Sweet Lust by Heaven - http://a-sweetlust.blogspot.com

Her poems always have a tinge of love & sensuality to them & are usually accompanied by equally provoking images.

2. memoirs of a homemaker by Janaki Nagaraj - http://janukulkarni.blogspot.com

Her poems are like sunshine and evoke many emotions in me.

3. Marbles In My Pocket by Charles Mashburn - http://charleslmashburn.wordpress.com

Charles is very adept at expressing his emotions. His poems are written with passion straight from the heart.

How do you know when a poem is done? Your own experiences need to be shared here...

I usually know it's done when the ending ties in with the entire body of the poem. When you've been writing for the number of years I have, you get a "feel" for a poem.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"? Do you redo your own poems after they’re posted? it could be poem someone else written...

I believe editing over & over is key. A poem can always be improved. I usually know it's good when my emotions are evoked after reading it.

Do you think music and poetry are related? Why?

Yes, I believe poetry & music are very much related. Each has rhythm & flow. Both are about meaning & expression. For example, there are lyrical poems which is poetry made into music. Rap music is often compared to poetry. It has rhyme & rhythm, but is still music. I would even go so far as to say music is poetry & poetry is music.

What issues are closed to your heart? Women’s rights, child abuses, etc.…name one…

In my humble opinion, all issues are equally important & I don't think it would be fair to choose one over the other.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing? Do you have pets? Give us a picture if you own a pet.

I don't have any pets, but I do enjoy watching basketball, football & cricket.

How do you know when a poem is done?

There have been times when I've overwritten a piece. It's like working on a painting and realizing you've used too much color. You just know.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"?

Because I wrote it and I've found acceptance with my writing. Do you redo your own poems after they’re posted? No, I do not. I may make corrections to my grammar, but that's it.

Do you think music and poetry are related?

Yes, I do. Why? For example, I've asked numerous people if they like poetry and they've answered they do not. But when I ask them if they like music, nearly every time they answer they do like music. I ask them if they like the lyrics to the music they listen to and they tell me they like the lyrics. I then say, "You like poetry because poetry is the lyrics to the song!" When we write, we are writing the song that our hearts are playing, and we give this song to the world. For me, much of what I write, in actuality, are song lyrics.

What issues are close to your heart? Women’s rights, child abuses, etc.…name one…

Solve the world's issues and we have one answer: Peace. Will we attain it? The only way to do so is to live it within ourselves one person at a time. All of the great scholars, gurus, etc., have taught that love, peace and God reside within the core of humankind. It is my greatest hope that I set an example of peace.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing? Meditation, belly dance, martial arts, swimming. Do you have pets?

Yes, my dog Honey. My daughter and I adopted her seven months ago. She is three years old and a Shepherd/Whippet mix. Give us a picture if you own a pet.

I’d Paint Peace

If I could paint a masterpiece

I’d paint a world that echoed peace

Upon the wind and across the land

Inside the heart of every man

I’d paint a sky of clearest blue

Where rainbow wishes all came true

With fluffy clouds that gathered dreams

Within their silver-crested seams

I’d dip my brush in paint so pure

To paint a land that felt secure

Where children in her bosom lay

In fields of green to gently play

There would be golden daffodils

Atop the rolling amber hills

Where shadows of their unity

Could somehow set the captive free

A splash of paint upon the page

Had run the river toward the sage

Can you tell us about yourself?

My name's Chimnese I love books since I was very young. love art and philosophy I've become so interesting in the human emotions and what drives us. I have a godson that is the pride and joy of my life, I'm family orientated. My hobbies would be running and long walks on the beach.

Which country do you live in now? What’s your profession? be general, no need to specify your location...

I am originally from South Africa. I am an accounts clerk for a Property Management Company.

We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community?

My drive is to reach a wider audience to read my poetry or any of my short stories. When I joined this community I knew that it would help in the long run to get feedback. But mostly I have also earned the respect of my fellow poets. We all want to be noticed and I am glad at Poets Rally we are a multitude of talent that stretched from the Pacific to the Atlantic ocean.

How long have you been blogging? Do you think being part of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I started my blog in 2009. Being a part of a poetry community did help me a lot and contributed to my knowledge I've picked up along the way.

Why poetry? Do you write fiction too?

I've been writing poetry since late September 2009, but my first writing was fiction. I now write in both spheres. My blog relates to both sides of my writing. Poetry has become one of my favorite seeing as I can write what's inside of me in a few words and give a straight answer to what is going on.

Personally these are my favorites because I find their work amazing,but also there's depth and truth in the verses they write.

How do you know when a poem is done? your own experiences need to be shared here...

If the ending sums up the entire poem. And I know this works. Cos I can feel it and I know my readers would applaud it.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"? Do you redo your own poems after they’re posted? it could be poem someone else written..

Before my second editing I post it on my website. Just as raw as the words and sometimes readers would leave their views on some editing points.
I am not afraid of people criticizing my work. It can only help me to better myself.

Do you think music and poetry are related? Why?

I think it does because poetry has rhythm, it has feeling,it captures the readers mind. It leave them breathless, just like a good song with lyrics that express everything you feel in one song. It touches the core, it captures your heart and leave you wanting to listen to it over and over. Like poem its flow.

I'd say both issues, as well as human gender equality.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing? Do you have pets? Give us a picture if you own a pet.

I have no pets, but I do enjoy running.

The Wait

We waited for this day to have come

For so long, but we never thought

This is how it would end.

The two of us meeting for the very first time.

We spoke so much about it,

Yet there you are, standing, your face

Looking panicked,

She won't come, she must have seen me.

And walked off.

I see you looking around you.

You can’t see me standing there out of eyesight.

Deep down in the pit of my stomach,

It’s whirling and turning.

I myself was looking forward to this day.

But in my case I wasn’t hoping for you,

But for her to come through those sliding doors

At the airport,

Its another person’s face I wanted to see,

It was another person my face wanted to light up.

As painful as this must be,

I wish I had the nerve.

But my legs didn’t want to

Forever & Almost

There's a song in my soul,
There's words being printed in the shape of my heart,
In the corner of my mind I know
That if this melody starts to get
Composed and restructured in the shape of what I know our love could be.
Its like forever and almost.
We had the forever,
But the almost came and took you away,
As words developed from the lyrics written upon my heart,
I'll tell you this I'll wait patiently,
Just come by and drop in,
Then I'll know you still care about me.
That its not forever and almost,
That its forever and always.

Overly exaggerated to make a point,

Contemplating life in the sense of what to write,
Half of these feelings aren’t even my own…
So these are the truths you have bought?
I see the pain in other people.
I feel it as my own.
How do I explain what I do not understand?
Every word I think to use,
Every sentence falls apart,
Collapsing like castles in the sand.
Can you understand that I am alright?
Can you see me how I am?
Instead of relying on part fiction to tell you…
This is who I am in the sense of writing.
Expressing everyone’s emotions I see.

This poem was written by Hoofprintsn my garden

Pear Planting

January mud seeps

through my jeans

where I kneel in the orchard.

I scrape and cup

loose soil

pulling damp handfuls

from the planting hole.

My fingers break

into an old gopher hole

-- double layer of chicken wire there –

I hold

the bareroot whip of wood

like a stick figure

and scoot dirt around roots

firming and filling

each crevice.

An earthy scent of moist soil

rises.

Then, a thick blanket

of composted fall leaves,

old hay

and horse manure.

The roots will wait.

Their spring sleeping

in winter’s warmth.

I am a cheerful andpassionate person, enjoying every second of my life. Being an amateur poet andwriter helps me deal with my emotions and bring to life crazy products of myimagination.

I come from Poland.I live there now, but I'm planning to move to a warmer location soon. I amcurrently a student at the Warsaw School of Economics.

We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally asa participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particularcommunity?

Poets Rally is something I really look forward each time. It gives me greatopportunity to explore work of many tallented poets and reach more publicitymyself.

How long have you been blogging? Do you think beingpart of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I've beenblogging since summer 2009. Being a part of this particular community helped meget to know other people with the same passion (at first I've been surprisedthere are so many). Also, it inspires me to continue mycreative growth and write even more. I'm really proud and happy to be a part ofsuch a great project.

Why poetry? Do you write fiction too?

What I enjoy most about poetry is that it gives me freedom. I can writewhatever I want and however I want. It's a great way to express my twistedpersonality. What's more, the short form of a poem is so much easier for me towrite than prose as I often find myself giving up longer projects due to thelack of time. Nevertheless, I try fiction as well, only less often. On my blogyou can find some short stories and 'The unconscious mind' series which Ipublish in parts. Furthermore, I'm currently working on my own book, which Ihope to get published one day.

Howdo you know when a poem is done? your own experiences need to be shared here...

This is a hard one! Well, words often pour out of me onto a piece of paperand I somehow feel when and how to finish. Then, I read through a poem aloud.If I can feel the strong emotions and the words in a way 'taste' good, I knowthe work is done.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"? Doyou redo your own poems after they’re posted? it could be poem someone elsewritten...

I just feel it. If I enjoy reading the poem, it wakes some emotions and theflow is kept, I know I've done it right. I never redo my poems after they areposted. Actually, I write only when I feel inspired and if I read through anddecide the poem is finished, I don't want to change anything later. It somehowbegins to live its own life.

Do you think music and poetry are related? Why?

I truely believe it's so. Many lyrics of songs sound like poetry (for me theleaders here are The Pierces) and many poems could be turned into songs. Poetryand music have this unique rhythm and flow, thus I love them both and couldnever choose between those two.

What issues are close to your heart? Women’s rights,child abuses, etc.…name one…

The freedom to choose your own path in life and decide for yourself.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing? Do youhave pets? Give us a picture if you own a pet.

There are many of them. Besides writing, I'm fond of reading poetry, storiesand books. Some of my favourite poets/writers are: Edgar Allan Poe, Ted Hughes,Anne Sexton. I also love anti-utopian books, like 'Brave New World' or'Nineteen Eighty-Four', they really make me think about the humans' nature.What's more, I'm passionate about music (many different kinds: smooth jazz,R&B, latin, house, soul, indie...), dancing (belly dancing, reggaeton,dancehall), learning foreign languages (English, Russian, Spanish), abstractarts, yoga, philosophy, psychology and spiritual growth. I'm also interested inhealthy lifestyle, cats and more ambitious movies (Pedro Almodovar, WoodyAllen, Quentin Tarantino). I love travelling and discovering the diversity ofthe world. The cultures I'm particularly curious about are Indian and Spanish,they feel really close to my heart in many ways.
I do have a pet. It's a saint bernard dog called Ramzes.

Golden touch, numb nuts, text don’t talk
Stalk anticipation; create heat seated near attitude on feet repeat

Cage the act, curb the swag, packin’ pain, hiding wrapped in duct tape
Bargain sanity for a hunger driven craze, devour art like power
Live a walk on water, close your eyes, carve
don’t worry, pave
It’s a world of plenty, give

I’m in a revolver, shoot
Targeting clarity in the heart, leaving a mark, hollow emptiness
Stealing the skin, the depth and pettiness
Loneliness festering, I’ve left an opening to think
Peek inside, shying away is a compromise
Don’t apologize, strive, sink, be strong and weak
Buy yourself a drink, bubble in the fizz
That’s business

Dawn is near to break the chain
To show the world that love is genuine

Canyou tell us about yourself?

I am the mother oftwo adult daughters. I am one in afamily of six children who are very close and happy with each other! I seem to be retired from work at the currenttime and have put this now-free time towards writing. I also am spending more time with my elderlymother, assisting her in doctors’ appointments and errands.

Whichcountry do you live in now? What’s your profession? be general, no needto specify your location...

I live in the UnitedStates in the southern state of Florida. I have mostly worked in office environments including law offices as alegal assistant.

We’rehappy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, also anofficial, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community?

I’m equally happyto be in the company of such talented and generous people. I owe my relationship to the Poet’s Rally tomy friend, Sharmishtha Basu. Sheencouraged me to join shortly after I started my blog after I had asked her howI could attract some “business” to my blog!

Howlong have you been blogging? Do you think being part of a poetry communitycontributes to your writing?

Just over ayear. Yes, it has broadened my writingskills. I had never written poetrybefore joining and now I have even gone so far as to teach myself some of thedifferent forms. It’s a wonderful way toexpress myself.

Whypoetry? Do you write fiction too?

Poetry was a brandnew challenge to me; I’m really enjoying it. I’ve written some fiction by different prompts that have beenoffered--that has been fun to try as well. I’ve also written some memoir.

Howdo you know when a poem is ready to be posted?

I read it over andedit it, proofreading for spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Sometimes they’re ready pretty quickly--othertimes they sit awhile and I revisit them several times before I am satisfiedwith the wording and flow. Then I justshove it out there for the world to see!

Howdo you decide when a poem is good? Do you redo your own poems after they’reposted?

I don’t reallyknow. Sometimes I write something thatI’m pretty pleased with and other times I just write my feelings and it’s moreof expressing something inside rather than whether it’s “good” or not. I have changed a word or two afterposting--I’m grateful for that edit button.

Absolutely! Words to music are poetry.

Abuse of anyone iswrong but particularly to defenseless children. They don’t have a voice, it is up to all of us in our “villages” tospeak up and out for the protection of the world’s children.

Meaningfully and sure we gazed with love
Words and feelings touched our hearts
Entrusted together until breath’s end part
Bride with honor as her intention
Groom to guide and bid me follow

I allowed your lead; we had a path to follow
Mytrust placed in you through solemn vow
Ourcourse clearly directed our intention
Lifesettled in--I thought I'd found love
Butegoic authority threatened to part
Itbegan the total breaking of hearts

What most call love, I know now is lessheart
Thanfoolish games that we follow
Thesegames are sure to wedge apart
Meaninglessand hollow became those vows
Ourlife’s truth gone the way of “love”
Nowday to day survival is our intention

Can we return to our true intention

Being in her house
