The Most Invaluable Poet Award Week 5 on A. B. Thomas

To the Day on March 4, 2011 by A. B. Thomas

To the day
36 white stemmed long roses in a circle with candlelight
Four less than the years her eyes have seen
2 less than her brother’s would have –
In the middle she sat
As she gazed longingly at each rose for a moment
Then placing a paper on her lap
With but two words
“My Turn”
Before placing her chin upon the sawed off barrel
To stain twenty white stemmed long roses the color of wine
