Inspiration of the week 15

Welcome to The poetry Palace and "Inspiration of the week". There are so much talent within the blogsphere and this week I have visited a blog that I am sure will inspire the others talented poets. I am Chimnese and it's a pleasure to be with you.

Trepidation

She hurried out the door
Ignoring the speed limits
She had the pedal to the floor
Trying to close the distance
between them
She tried to calm down
She tried to just breath
She started talking out loud
She didn’t care, no one could see
her debate
“Why would you go again?
What good could possibly come?
Do you really want something to begin?
Last time you left in a run.
Why more?”
Then there was the other side
The laughter, the song
“They say love is blind
How could this be wrong
for me?”
She drove to fast
Not sure where she was
Still fighting with her past
And all the things that he does
to her.
Her heart raced
As she got closer to him
She sped up her pace
Her fears were starting to win
her mind.
“What if he is already in a bad mood?
What if I say something wrong?
What am I going to do?
His hold on me is so strong
what do I do?”
“Hopefully he will be happy,
Hopefully he will show he cares,
Hopefully he won’t be mad at me,
For just walking up his stairs,
we’ll see.”
As she reached his home
She didn’t know what to think
She mostly felt alone
She felt she would just sink
into nothing.
The trepidation was heavy
She was almost in tears
Her feelings, she had a bevy
She had to face her fears
again.
She slowly walked to his door
Nothing has changed though it’s been awhile
She is not sure if she can stand any more
She suddenly see’s him and starts to smile
she breaths.

The Window To The World on Life of A Poet Week 13

Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Andy David. I'm a poet who exists in the image of love. I've been writing poetry since I was a young boy. I enjoy writing about love and romance.

Which country do you live in now? What’s your profession? be general, no need to specify your location...

I live in the US & am employed as a manager.

We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community?

Poets rally offers opportunities to share, and I enjoy sharing & reading the different styles of poetry and prose. I also enjoy interacting with & getting to know a little bit about the poets from different parts of the world.

How long have you been blogging? Do you think being part of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I posted my first poem on 28 January 2011, so my 1 year anniversary is fast approaching.
Yes, being part of a poetry community contributes to my creative writing. It challenges me to think and write outside my normal box & it's a great way to encourage fellow poets.

Why poetry? Do you write fiction too?

I've always written poetry. I love the rhythm & flow of words. I have written a few fiction pieces for other communities, but my forte is poetry.

Please share 3 to 5 blog links you enjoy reading most, give 1 or 2 sentences to tell why you love their creative process.

There are so many good blogs I come across, it's hard to choose. I tend to veer towards those blogs whose subjects are about love & romance.
My favorites would have to be:

1. Sweet Lust by Heaven - http://a-sweetlust.blogspot.com

Her poems always have a tinge of love & sensuality to them & are usually accompanied by equally provoking images.

2. memoirs of a homemaker by Janaki Nagaraj -  http://janukulkarni.blogspot.com

Her poems are like sunshine and evoke many emotions in me.

3. Marbles In My Pocket by Charles Mashburn - http://charleslmashburn.wordpress.com

Charles is very adept at expressing his emotions. His poems are written with passion straight from the heart.

How do you know when a poem is done? Your own experiences need to be shared here...

I usually know it's done when the ending ties in with the entire body of the poem. When you've been writing for the number of years I have, you get a "feel" for a poem.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"? Do you redo your own poems after they’re posted? it could be poem someone else written...

I believe editing over & over is key. A poem can always be improved. I usually know it's good when my emotions are evoked after reading it.

Do you think music and poetry are related? Why?

Yes, I believe poetry & music are very much related. Each has rhythm & flow. Both are about meaning & expression. For example, there are lyrical poems which is poetry made into music. Rap music is often compared to poetry. It has rhyme & rhythm, but is still music. I would even go so far as to say music is poetry & poetry is music.

What issues are closed to your heart? Women’s rights, child abuses, etc.…name one…

In my humble opinion, all issues are equally important & I don't think it would be fair to choose one over the other.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing? Do you have pets? Give us a picture if you own a pet.

I don't have any pets, but I do enjoy watching basketball, football & cricket.

Please list your blog links below, share 1 or 2 poems that represents best of your poetry talent…

Thanks in advance.

The poems I'm choosing are:

The Journey by: JP Leddy

The road weaves into many and varied  landscapes…
Into parched and dry areas of skepticism and disbelief…
Into areas with stony barriers of  mistrust and suspicion…
Into  the swampy , damp tears of hurt and sadness…
Into the green and flowery meadows of hopes and fantasy …
Into the sun drenched beaches of  play and fun…
Into the lighted cities of abandonment and frolic…
Wherever the road takes , do not turn back  defeated…
The journey to my heart will be won soon….
You are closer than you think , maybe over the next bend…

The Window to The World on Life of A Poet Week 12: Kay Salady

Can you tell us about yourself?

I am a published author and featured writer for Global Light Minds Magazine. Some of my work has also been published in the Global Peace Journal in Meerut, India.

Which country do you live in now?

USA

What’s your profession?

I'm a writer.

We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community?

I was invited by Jingle to participate in this community.  I have learned a great deal from the participants here and I am humbled when I read the work submitted each week.

How long have you been blogging?

Since 2006

Do you think being part of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I feel the prompts and writing exercises have definitely encouraged me to be more versatile.

Please share 3 to 5 blog links you enjoy reading most, give 1 or 2 sentences to tell why you love their creative process.

I have really looked forward to reading Steven's writing each week.  He writes with such romanticism and with such a unique flare for imagery that takes the reader on a trip to wherever he leads them with the tip of his pen.

Donna writes with both her heart and soul.  Taking her readers on wondrous adventures via every emotion there is, Donna painstakingly creates masterpiece after masterpiece and she does it with love!

Aynsley goes wherever her thoughts lead her.  Her writing is real, honest and straightforward.  Oftentimes, writers go unnoticed due to the fact that they do not have a certain flair or edge.  However, she has something extremely special - she's Aynsley.  I like her.

Not only is Jacqui's artwork and photography breathtaking, but her portrayal of life's color in an ordinary day is just as abundantly vivid.  Her writing literally splashes multicolored hues across the page.  What a peaceful experience!

Samer's writing is filled with deep emotion and it's so earthy.  His work reminds me of Pablo Neruda's.  If you want to read something good, read Your Smile.

How do you know when a poem is done?

There have been times when I've overwritten a piece.  It's like working on a painting and realizing you've used too much color.  You just know.

How do you decide when a poem is "good"?

Because I wrote it and I've found acceptance with my writing.  Do you redo your own poems after they’re posted? No, I do not.  I may make corrections to my grammar, but that's it.

Do you think music and poetry are related?

Yes, I do.  Why?  For example, I've asked numerous people if they like poetry and they've answered they do not.  But when I ask them if they like music, nearly every time they answer they do like music.  I ask them if they like the lyrics to the music they listen to and they tell me they like the lyrics.  I then say, "You like poetry because poetry is  the lyrics to the song!"  When we write, we are writing the song that our hearts are playing, and we give this song to the world.  For me, much of what I write, in actuality, are song lyrics.

What issues are close to your heart? Women’s rights, child abuses, etc.…name one…

Solve the world's issues and we have one answer:  Peace.  Will we attain it?  The only way to do so is to live it within ourselves one person at a time.  All of the great scholars, gurus, etc., have taught that love, peace and God reside within the core of humankind.  It is my greatest hope that I set an example of peace.

What’s your other hobbies besides writing?  Meditation, belly dance, martial arts, swimming.  Do you have pets?

Yes, my dog Honey.  My daughter and I adopted her seven months ago.  She is three years old and a Shepherd/Whippet mix. Give us a picture if you own a pet.

Please list your blog links below, share 1 or 2 poems that represents best of your poetry talent…
Thanks in advance.

I’d Paint Peace

If I could paint a masterpiece
I’d paint a world that echoed peace
Upon the wind and across the land
Inside the heart of every man

I’d paint a sky of clearest blue
Where rainbow wishes all came true
With fluffy clouds that gathered dreams
Within their silver-crested seams

I’d dip my brush in paint so pure
To paint a land that felt secure
Where children in her bosom lay
In fields of green to gently play

There would be golden daffodils
Atop the rolling amber hills
Where shadows of their unity
Could somehow set the captive free

A splash of paint upon the page
Had run the river toward the sage
Who dared to give the world release
By painting words that offered peace

Alpha Woman

Deep within the alpha woman lies the seed of humankind
Waiting in her still dark waters to gather in the gift she finds
To awaken love and light that glow so brightly from her eyes
She lifts her arms to inhale the perfumed air that fills the skies
Beneath her feet the bliss resides just outside an open door
Lotus blooms to greet the small one making entrance as those before
She is fire and she is water she is earth and she is wind
She has arms with which to cradle a ring of love that time transcends
The warrior maiden who does battle to save her species what may defy
With head held high singing her anthem the earth’s most sacred lullaby

Birth :
Words flow through a hand
writings its own mind by a pen
A new page written every time
as a new day dawns.
I flow with every move
of that invisible fingers
Marriage:
Open the index that points to
the sweet twist in my chapter
Wherein I have asked you
to join me to unfold new pages
So that we can reproduce
a sequel in the coming days ahead.
Death:
Among the ups and downs ,
I had my best writings
to be reproduced into editions
for generations to come.
I still ...
I still live through them
So never repent
even if hear someone says that
My Chapters have been closed.
