Can you tell us about yourself?

I was born in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1978. I was raised by my parents who entered America as immigrants from Italy. When I was young, I found myself writing poetry as a way to express my feelings to my family and friends.  I never pursued my writing until when my life changed dramatically on May 22, 2009. While working for a telecommunication company for eleven years, I was involved in a hit and run accident during a weekend getaway; the accident resulted in major injuries. On leave from work I decided to publish my first  poetry chap book: A Book of Poems: The Inner Soul (ISBN: 9781449099916)  in May 2010.  Following that I published my second book After the Storm: Poetry That Refreshes the Soul (ISBN:9781613466414) in January 2012.

Why poetry? Do you write fiction too?

Blogging for me at http://anthonyfrando.net/  is a great way to provide unique original information that can be found no where else to my reading audience.  My blog focus is writing and collaboration – filtering information and providing context for those interested in a particular subject like my poetry.  For the most part, my blog has fallen into the two categories poetry and fiction. During national writing month in November 2011 (nanowrimo.org) I completed a writing draft of 50,000 word mafia novel called The Captain.  I am in the process of editing my work before sending it to a professional editor.  I am also co-authoring ghost novel called The Enchanted Locket with a co-author friend Jennifer McFadden.

How long have you been blogging? Do you think being part of a poetry community contributes to your creative writing?

I started blogging in March 2010 just before my first poetry chap book A Book of Poems was published. Following that I created a fan page at http://www.facebook.com/AnthonyFRando. I also created a website at http://anthonyfrando.com/  The theme of my blog is my writing journey.  I would have to say poetry is what I write the most on my blog. Even though I have not been blogging for a long time I found the idea of bloggers and blogging powerful and constantly evolving. Being able to communicate freely to readers without restrictions is a great way to express yourself.

Being part of a poetry community helps a blogger to expand its audience to other poetry readers. Reading other blogger website helps me to learn new ways to write poetry.

How do you know when a poem is done? your own experiences need to be shared here..

My Inspiration comes from the joy of past relationships,  a tragic event that I experienced, emotions that I felt the day I decided to write a poem. Whether, it may be love, remorse, or healing, I tried to capture an event in my life that sparked my writing. I feel having the correct flow of words that tells a story to a reader with the correct amount of emotion helps me to find a completion in a poem. 

 We’re happy that you have been part of Poets Rally as a participant, what has driven you to where you are in this particular community? 

I absolutely love being part of Poets Rally as a participant.  The blog helps writers share their writing with other bloggers and readers.  I've enjoyed reading, commenting and subscribing to many blogs threw Poets Rally.

She lives in the Houston area with her husband and two sons. She is an author of a children book, Rusty My Playful Cat and she also writes fantasy and science fiction.

we used to know each other like

we knew the back of our hands

every line, every flaw, and the

color constantly changing as

the years wore on and the sun

took its toll.

we used to know each other like

we knew the sound of our voices    

every nuance, every inflection, and the

youthful vivacity gradually disappearing as

childhood faded away and stress

took its toll.

we used to know each other like

we knew our appearance in the mirror

every pimple, every flyaway, and the

reflection growing more and more alien as

we lost and found ourselves and life

took its toll.

i guess that’s life

but sometimes i miss the days when

we could stare up at the clouds and

let ourselves float away–when our

appearances didn’t matter

grades didn’t matter

life didn’t matter

but now they do, they do and

we don’t know each other (as well) anymore.

The sky is awake and quiet,
Festive like poetry,
The sea is salty, navy blue,
Kim and Theode, only two
come to everyone’s view,
No trees or seagulls for miles,
But stillness in the air,
hot, wet, and watchful,
Fish hides under water,
Quivering on fathomless depth of blue,
Kim is sad,
She swallows hard,
Hoping for the change of the mood,
Life has given her headaches,
She decides to go away,
blindly, she moves forward,
without carrying her cell phone,
without knowing the next destination,
It’s late August,
She becomes thirsty and hungry soon,
dark thoughts keep her going,
also make her shiver with fears,
maybe when she sees trees, houses,
she will find love or comfort,
even ways or solutions to happiness.
